Many wild animals love
rolling in the mud, for good reason!!! The therapeutic value is numerous. This
is the inspiration behind the development of Thermal Mud. When observing
animals in the wild, they can’t resist a good roll in the mud. Many injured animals
will also lay down in the mud to cover the injured area.
Among the many benefits,
here are but a few:
·
Mud
provides a natural sun protection layer.
·
It
has a moisturizing effect.
·
Microminerals
get absorbed through the skin
·
The
diversity in microbes ensures for quick healing of wounds and prevents
infection.
·
Mud
has anti-inflammatory properties.
·
Humates
in mud have innumerable health benefits.
Quick Guide:
Injuries:
Poultice
twice daily with cling wrap. Continue as long as thermal reaction occurs.
Wounds/sarcoidosis/melanomas:
Pack
liberally inside wound or on growth 2-3 times per day. Let dry and wash of
before each application.
Greasy
heal/mange/brushy tail:
Apply
twice daily, allow to dry.
Muscles:
(lower
back, hamstrings, shoulders, etc.) Apply moderate layer 2-3 times per day.
Maintenance
treatment for sport horses:
Apply
to back, lower back, hamstrings and legs after strenuous exercise. For
additional care, poultice legs overnight in cling wrap and bandage.
Uses for Thermal Mud:
Maintenance
and injury prevention:
Application after workout: after legs have
been iced to cool the tendons down, apply Thermal mud to increase blood supply
to areas on the legs that need repair after the daily wear and tear. (feel how
the areas that need repair heat up while applying the mud – remember to add
water in the bucket to dilute mud in order to wet legs thoroughly) With this
treatment, getting the heat back into the tendons will ensure quicker recovery
from daily wear and tear, reducing the risk of tendon injuries. Apply a
moderate amount on the legs, lower back, and hamstrings after a workout to
check heat reaction for areas that need treatment. Let the mud dry and brush
off or rinse with water.
Treatment of injuries:
Tendon injuries: apply a moderate amount of
diluted mud on injured tendon. Wrap with gladwrap and stable bandage for an
hour. Check heat reaction while removing the wrapping. If the heat reaction is
too severe, do wrap treatment for only an hour 2 x per day. If heat reaction is
not too strong, wrap leg for 3 – 6 hours per day until the tendon is healed.
(usually 2 – 3 weeks) Muscle injuries – apply a moderate amount of diluted mud
to the affected area (lower back, hamstring, neck, wherever muscle is injured)
and leave it to dry. Apply 2 – 3 times per day. Wounds – apply to wound 2 x per
day and leave to dry. Sarcoids and growths – apply 2 times per day. It is
preferable to cover with plastic to keep mud wet for as long as possible for
the most effective treatment. Thermal Mud is most effective when used in
conjunction with Vermate supplement.
